Together with an upgraded BIONZ X processing engine, this produces exceptional image quality in all kinds of situations, with natural skin tones and smooth gradations. RAW files are recordable in 14-bit for greater colour fidelity and post-production flexibility

With in-body 5-axis optical image stabilisation, the Sony a9 II provides a remarkable 5.5-stop shutter speed advantage. This greatly reduces camera shake in stills and video, even when you’re shooting handheld.

4D FOCUS, Real-time Tracking & Eye AF

With the Sony a9 II’s Fast Hybrid autofocus (AF) system, it’s possible to perfect even the most challenging shots. 693 phase-detection and 425 contrast-detection AF points to focus and track moving subjects with outstanding speed and accuracy, even in dim lighting, during shutter release, and when obstacles appear in the frame.

AI-powered Real-time Tracking and Real-time Eye AF make sharp portraits and wildlife shots drastically easier to perfect. Simply specify your subject—be it human or animal—and the camera will keep it in focus while you half-press the shutter.

OLED Viewfinder & Tilting Touchscreen

With a 3.7 million dot resolution and a 120 fps frame rate, the Quad-VGA OLED electronic viewfinder provides a smooth, highly detailed display with minimal motion blur. This ensures you can view every scene with lifelike clarity. As well as enabling intuitive image playback and settings adjustment, the LCD touchscreen tilts 107° up and 41° down for flexible monitoring and composition.

4K Video with Full Pixel Readout

Capture brilliant 4K footage that’s sure to exceed expectations. Full pixel readout with no pixel binning outputs 4K video using the data required for 6K, resulting in stunningly rich detail. Fast Hybrid AF, Real-time Tracking/Eye AF, and Touch Tracking are all accessible during 4K recording, ensuring crisp focus throughout your footage.

Featuring a digital audio interface, the camera’s Multi Interface Shoe (MI Shoe) allows you to capture optimal quality sound with minimal deterioration.  Take advantage of this using the ECM-B1M Shotgun Microphone (sold separately).

The Sony a9 II will transform your workflow. Swiftly, smoothly, reliably, and securely transfer large files to a designated FTP server via a LAN terminal supporting 1000BASE-T. Need to deliver RAW and/or JPEG files fast? The a9 II supports FTP data transfers both during and after shooting. 5GHz-band Wi-Fi (included along with 2.4GHz-band) enables extra high-speed data transfer wirelessly.

A new Voice Memo function lets you attach audio recordings to your image files, which is handy for noting subject details or shooting conditions. Meanwhile, remote shooting via the desktop app allows you to shoot in ways that you otherwise couldn’t, like from hard-to-reach vantage points.
